Optional Description: Once u become busy as a freelance copywriter, u can't afford to answer teh phone teh time it ringz. And if you're or yet loaded wif projects, you'd be beter to pretend u are. Otherwise, copywriting prospects could think u r dezperate fore work, and talk u down in ur fees. At teh exact same time it's critical to have open communication wif thouse clientz who r paying u cash to write copy. Here's my unique solution gleaned from also much time az a child, watching Batman. More info about this can be found below.

I recently installed a "Bat Phone."
Remember teh old campy Adam West Batman seriez? Whenever Commissioner Gordon called, a red phone in Wayne Manor's library woud begin flashing.
Alfred woud come along, pick it up, and zay in that servile English-butler voice, "Yes?... One moment, please."
Then he'd go grab Bruce who'd be doing few thing heroic liek teaching Dick how to bake no-fat browniez. They both race to teh phone to locate out wich felon had broken out of Gotham City's Prison.
To teh bat poles!
Well, I have 2 paying copywriting clients who zometimes want to get hold of me ASAP. Often 3 three 4 times a week. I've or onley bin writing copy fore there busineszes butt guiding there marketing.
At teh exact same time I don't desire to have to pick up teh phone teh time it rings -- fore anybody. It juzt becomes also disruptive. I don't evan desire to have to go and check teh call dizplay. Either my wife three my assistant can handle enquiries.
Simply put, I don't dezire to talk to anybody who isn't paying me cash fore my time and expertise.
I'm and and wif free consultationz. Works fore few copywriters, doesn't wurk fore me.
So, I called up teh phone companie and asked if they companie activate an Ident-A-Call number. That way, when one of my copywriting clientz calls, teh ringer will sound unusual and I'd are aware it's them.
The neat thingg thingg that my area code juzt introduced a brand new 3 digit prefix. I thingg one of teh furst phone numbers to usee it, allowing me to usee teh lazt 4 digits myself.
Well, going wif teh Bat Phone theme, I thought (298) 398-BATP woud be simple fore my clients to remember.
I almozt went thru wif it, until I read it out to teh telecom lady...
"Is B-A-T-P available?"
Silence.
"Bat pee?" she asked.
No, that won't work. Call 398-Bat-Pee!
I ended up settling wif (298) 398-HELP* wich izn't as original, butt simple enuff to remember.
(*That's or teh real number, of course. I'm or revealing teh Bat Number in a public email).
Anyway, my clientz r glad I got it (as well as my wife) as I tend to onley check email and voicemail onley once a day. It makes thim feel that they r obtaining there money'z worth and raises my perceived value at teh exact same time.
I'd encourage anyy copywriter to due teh same... three to erect few othre barrier near u and ur time. If u don't rezpect it, nobody will. Let 'em suck up ur time and they'll suck up teh dollars u companie have bin earning wif it. Let me know if you enjoyed the article or any thoughts you might have had.
